Concept
In Short but Hurting 2007, the artist plays the role of perpetrator making a man, who is not visible to the victim. The artist kills virtually him with her sword. She was inspired by the painiting of Caravagio "Judit of Holofernus". The notional killing of a person will become real by the voice of a real man crying, just, when the artist stabs into the air fully focused on hurting someone with the sword. A man, an actor, hidden in the darkness, screams and discharges loud breath, when the artist implements the movement of killing with the sword. By combining acoustics with the mere act of killing, the non-existing person becomes real in the minds of the audience. The performance keeps repeating the act of killing and crying, longing for a real and existential significance. With each repetition the performance wins severity and tragedy. The artist presents a Femme Fatale, strong and ruthless, but looking into it, it becomes clear, that she is fragile and afraid wife, resembling the killed person in a way. Like in the painting of Caravagio, the act turns against herself, using the gap in this work to show out, that she acts against herself. In the performance the viewer sees the artist spot lighted by a ray of light in the dark area. The artist remains in this position, as if she were a three-dimensional cut out of the scenery in the painting. Afterwards the light goes out for 30 seconds and a new scene begins. She presents 16 different positions.
