Concept

In the performance "Evolution" the viewer sees a red carpet (10m L x 1m B), which leads to the water at the port (Hafen). The artist (Nezaket Ekici) enters this carpet with a smart evening dress (cocktail dress). She takes up a rope of the ground and pulls until a large fish emerges from the water at the other end. She pulls with all strength (because the fish is very heavy), until the fish is off the water. She pulls the fish up to the center of the carpet and then leaves the carpet without the fish.

The fish is artificial, like the port artificially put at the Dortmunder Ems channel, a product of human evolution. Evolution therfore is a specific process, which subjects existence to a constant change. In this sense humans accepted the role as agents of Evolution to change his environment in order to leave the context of nature. The paradox relationship of artificialness and nature now becomes discussionable.

The artist connects different aspects in a absurd way: she pretends to be a kind of ' star ' walking on the red carpet. She performs then however a task from the navigation environment, which suitable to her role. The artificialness of the entire situation radiates on the artist´s role and reveals its artificial function and her attempt to be identical to this role
