Concept
Shown within the framework of the Workshops "Cleaning the House Project " from Marina Abramovic NMAC Foundation appeared in summer, 2004 of this year in Cadiz on the ground in Spain works which referred either on the sculptures park of the NMAC Foundations or on the Workshop.
The Performance "Isn't life beautiful" refers to the iron sculpture of the American artist Roxy Pain, placed in the sculpture park. The industrially made iron tree has an effect with its smooth surface in the landscape surrounding shining strangely like a stone pine tree. The tree stands in the landscape like the snapshot of a filigree dancer. It looks artificial therefore, lifelessly and contrasts insubstantially with its surrounding.
The Artist (Nezaket Ekici) sits several hours on the raised tree trunk and tries to give to the tree a new life, while she is completely decorated with red flowers. Not to cover the artificial character of the iron tree completely, no leaves, but exclusively blossoming flowers are applied as a jewellery, since the entire tree has an effect like a big iron flower. " Isn't life beautiful " wants to express to the unyielding will to live of the nature.
