Performance Presented at HBK Braunschweig 2004

In the Performance " No Porg but Pig " the viewer sees a 5 square meters fenced area in which the Artist (Nezaket Ekici) in Islamic Tschador clothes sits together with a pig. The artist sits all the time on a small chair near to the pig. As long as the pig in range, the Artist strokes the pig with her black gloves.
In the Performance an Islamic woman about several hours constructs symbolically a connection with a pig. With it the artist processes a known taboo subject of the Islamic belief, therefore the pig is known as unclean an it is not permitted to the believer to touch this animal.
The pig is considered here in spite of this order impartially as a simple "living being". Even if its meat has to be spoiled according to the Islamic belief, it is at least nevertheless a living being like each other.
