Solo Exhibition „Dimension of Discovery“ Pi artworks Istanbul 4.4.-29.6.2024

The artist stands on a red, transparent Plexiglas panel. Letters slowly become visible under the transparent Plexiglas until a sentence becomes recognizable. The audience can read the sentence in Turkish Language: “INSANIN ONURUNA DOKUNULAMAZ“, which corresponds to Article 1 of the German Basic Law: “Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar”. („Human dignity is inviolable”), The artist wears a costume that is equipped with many sharp objects such as knives, an axe, a scraper, etc. She distributes these utensils over the audience. She spreads these utensils on the red surface and begins to scrape off the red paint. The more she scratches, the more you can see the transparent Plexiglas panel underneath and the writing installed under the Plexiglas on the floor. The loud scratching exerts a force on the Plexiglas and the audience. During her performance, she speak loud and repeat the sentence “INSANIN ONURUNA DOKUNULAMAZ“ Here the transparent plexiglass is damaged, but not the words and their meaning, which are under the plexiglass. The red color and the artist's actions stand for the many crises worldwide. With each word that the artist reveals, the question of the meaning of the sentence becomes louder and is answered when the sentence is visible and understood.
