Concept
White pedestals stand in a white room. On the floor are objects made of porcelain and buckets filled with different colors. Ekici picks up individual objects and dips each in one of the 5 colors. She then piles the objects on the pedestals according to the color they belong to. The previously white floor becomes colorful because the porzellan gobjects were dipped in color and because color drips onto the floor, the pedestals and onto Ekici's dress. The more porcelain she piles on top of each other, the taller the resulting abstract, colorful porcelain sculptures become. Through her work, Ekici raises questions about the practice of collecting and how collections are formed. How do collections develop? What categorizations are found and invented for objects? What is the labor and pain behind collecting and letting go? The performance installation is part of the anniversary exhibition "Bröhan Total!".
