Concept
In the Performance “Poetry Soup” the artist Nezaket Ekici invites guests to participate in an interactive performance.
The first part of performance: 9 guests write their names on an overhead projector. The artist spells out the name by German alphabet and jumps to rope. Having spelled a name, this guest sits at the table until all guests are seated.
The second part of the performance: 9 guests and the artist sitting at a long table with a white tablecloth. Everyone has a soup plate and saucer with spoon. In the middle of the table dried noodle letters are placed. Each guest gets a vegetable soup with alphabet noodles.
During the meal, the artist does different concentration exercises with the guests. For example, the guest form a word with the letters or eat very slowly. Eating together becomes a ritual.
After eating the guests place an own poetic phrase from the dried noodle letters. At the end 10 different poetic short texts remain as a relic of a social sculpture.
