Concept
The artist acts in a white dress in the middle of a round table forming a circle around her. On the table 99 white plates are arranged around her. With an oversized rosary consisting of 99 beads, the artist acts in the middle, by distributed the individual beads sequentially to the plates. Every time one of the beads is put on the plate, the artist pronounces a commandment. The performance ends when all the beads are scattered on the 99 surrounding plates,
Religious people often use a rosary for prayers to confide one's secret to god. At first the rosary is not merely Christian, Islamic or Jewish. The Rosary in Islam consists of 33 beads, of which each is repeated 3 times. God is called by his different names, attributes and designations and they are listed to speak out all aspects of human life.??In the performance the 99 beads represent commandments which can be positve or negative instructions. In any case, there is a requirement for a clear distinction between lawful and unlawful in religions that can be seen as a ban. The performance explores the mantra-like repeated bans that each religion carries in its essence.?The rosary is used in all religions for the purpose of prayer and is neither purely Christian or Islamic or Jewish. Therefore, the artist speaks out bans from all religions such as "Don´t eat pork" and "Do not kill."??The performance forms the rosary circle in a new way, forming a chain of beads on the table, showing the movement in a circle in a new plastic manner. The artist becomes the connecting spirit between the beads on the table and acts as the thread that holds the beads to each other. The performance is inspired by antique motifs, symbolizing the character of the divine in a circle.
