Concept
Nezaket Ekici is a performance artist who participated in the project "The Voices of Religions" and deals with the everyday questions of the Herrnhutter people and their faith. In her performance "destiny rose" she illuminates different aspects of faith, all of which are equally important and were developed in a constructive way together with the community. Nezaket Ekici emphasizes in the performances the meaning of the spoken word and shows the importance of ritual actions. Every decision for a yes or no can be called existential. In this sense, the artist attributes faith to a simple equation. Here, the daisy love oracle becomes a parable of faith, as the artist applies the love oracle to fundamental questions of faith. In her performance, she tears off one leaf after the other from a rose and in doing so, pronounces ritualized basic questions. Together with her, members of the community perform in their own way. The artist uses her Turkish/German background and asks, for example, "I am allowed to eat pork" and "I am not allowed to eat pork", while she tears off individual rose petals until only one leaf is left and brings about a fate decision on the question with the next leaf.
