Video performance 2018 - Nezaket Ekici and Shahar Marcus

Concept
The video performance "Sea of Life" 2018 bases on the trilogy "TBQ" (engl. Torah, Bible, Quran). It is understood as a research project, with which they want to find out how religions and cultures interact with sacred bypass books that should or can no longer be used. The Video performance "Sea of Life" Istanbul was chosen as the location for several reasons: But the most important one is Turkey's geographical location - the Bosporus as a link between East and West. There are various rituals for dealing with old Koran books. In their video, Ekici and Marcus refer to the tradition of placing old books in running water in which the ink of the written word can dissolve. Here the two artists symbolically take water from the aquariums at the end and return the water to the sea from a boat. (Text: Municipal Gallery Nordhorn)
