Concept
La Scala, video performance 2017 is based on the trilogy "TBQ" (Torah, Bible, Quran). It is understood as a research project with which Ekici and Marcus want to find out how religions and cultures deal with holy books that should or can no longer be used. The video performance "La Scala" refers to a Christian ritual. In the Middle Ages, pilgrims arriving at the holy site of the relic took a veiled mirror out of their robe. The mirror was unveiled to reflect the relic and then taken home. There it was unveiled again to reveal the sacred vision that was believed to have been held in the mirror. Artists return to this ancient tradition and collect the sacred books whose divinity they reflect in the sky as they walk up the stairs on their knees. (Text: Municipal Gallery Nordhorn)
