"Sisyphus"

Video Installation presented at: Gallery White Elefant, Berlin 2002

Concept
The work "Sisyphus " works explicitly on the subject of time. A mountain, made of gypsum can be seen, on which figure (artist) is projected. The artist climbs up a snow covered hill and slips down, each time, she reaches the top. The more she comes near to the top, she becomes smaller, till noone can recognize her any more. The artist akts like the philosopher Sisyphus, who tried to climb up a hill again and again carrying a heavy load and like him, she is again and again thrown back. The hole process repeats in a loop. If one pays attention to the time loop in the Performance, first of all the aspects repetition, the moment itself and eternity are in focus. The constant repetition of the climbing scene becommes more and more a single moment, because the repetition leeds to eternity. Every single moment implies eternity, freely after Nietzsche: "... Since all desire wants eternity ".
